The Effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Couple Counseling on Postpartum Depression in Women Referring to Hospital (Case Study of Sarem Hospital)

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy couple therapy on postpartum depression in women referred to the hospital. The research method was pre-test and post-test design with control group. The statistical population included all women who were referred to Sarem Hospital in Tehran. The sample size was 40 people (20 in the experimental group and 20 in the control group who were selected by available sampling method). The instrument for data collection was a standard depression questionnaire, to determine the cognitive-behavioral therapy couple therapy based on McKay, Fennin and Pal (2006 )and Azimi Far(1393) was used, Data analysis was performed using SPSS software. The results of the data analysis indicated that the effect of counseling on cognitive-behavioral couples therapy on postpartum depression in women referred to Sarem Hospital was 0.363. According to the results of this study, cognitive-behavioral therapy can be used as a selective therapeutic approach to reduce depression in postpartum women. However, in order to increase the effectiveness of intervention, in addition to paying attention to inefficient thoughts, special attention should be paid to the core beliefs and underlying assumptions of individuals.
